ADVIT MOLDOVA IS LOOKING FOR 4 EVS VOLUNTEERS FOR THE ALREADY APPROVED LONG TERM PROJECTS IN GERMANY , FRANCE AND LITHUANIA.

ADVIT Moldova is a youth non-profit organization based in Chisinau , Moldova . ADVIT Moldova offers young people the possibility to undertake voluntary service activities, participating in programs that promote the exchange of young people among nations as a tool for intercultural and global education.

European Voluntary Service (EVS) supports transnational voluntary service of young people. It aspires to develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, primarily to reinforce social cohesion in the European Union. It promotes active citizenship and enhances mutual understanding among young people. European Voluntary Service also helps to achieve the common objectives on youth voluntary activities at European level, which were adopted by the EU Council of Ministers on 15 November 2004.

European Voluntary Service is a "learning" service: throughout non-formal learning experiences young volunteers improve and/or acquire competences for their personal, educational and professional development as well as for their social integration.

1. Hosting project: Jonavos mokykla-dar?elis "Bitute"

Volunteer tasks and project description:


Jonava Children Rehabilitation School-Centre "Bitute" provides a number of services and activities for the children. Assistance would be the main role of EVS volunteers in the organization, although some fields of sole responsibility could be found as well.
All depends on the individual volunteer and his/her willingness to be active and creative.

A number of activities are open for assistance from EVS volunteers. The following groups can be attended the school-centre:
- Extracurricular educational groups;
- A group of prolonged working hours;
- Weekly groups.
EVS Volunteers can work, help and learn in the following operational fields of the organization:
- Aid of speech-therapist, special teacher (volunteers can help specialists with auxiliary materials, handouts, pictograms, even speech improvement exercises);
- Curative physical exercises, massages (volunteers could help children to implements certain exercises, help them prepare for physical motions, help them change their clothes etc.);
- Underwater massage (according to volunteers abilities they could help the children with becoming more comfortable with water, try teach them to swim, organize a game in the water etc.);
- Relaxation room; (helping children to the relaxation room, supervising them during sessions etc.);
- Sitting room for teachers and parents (socializing with the staff and parents of the children, discussing current affairs, helping the administration in keeping contact with foreign partners and sponsors etc)
-Ethnographical museum (maintaining and organizing exhibitions)
- Trampoline (supervising the children while exercising, helping to get on and off the trampoline)
- Availability to the internet and possibility to obtain basic skills in working with computer (teaching the children basic computer skills, organizing game competitions etc).

2. Hosting project: Association of Assistant to the Young Workers

Volunteer tasks:


Created in 1954, the Association of Assistant to the Young Workers (AAJT) has for object to support the young people in all their initiatives aiming to facilitate their taking of autonomy and their actor's role in our society. To be made, the AAJT acts on the various control levers susceptible to facilitate the social and professional inclusion of the young people : housing, health, employment, new business start-up and Europe . The actions of the AAJT are realized by its fifty nine employees (equivalents full time), through four establishments : 2 Centers of Accomodation and Social Rehabilitation (CHRS), 1 Unit Of Emergency Hosting (UHU), 2 Youth clubs (FJT) and 1 social residence. The organization touches a public of young people from 16 to 30 years old in difficulties (wandering young people, asylum seekers, young person in precarious situation with regard to the accommodation and to the entry into employment, the socio-educational accompaniment within the framework of the social wefare for childs in the age between 16 - 21 years).

The young volunteer will be brought to participate and to collaborate with the services of the Association according to their projec. He/she will be brought to work on animations, the organization of events, the accompaniment of youth initiatives at the local level. He/She will intervene on Marseilles and in the geographical sector of the network of parnters of the AAJT (department of Bouches-du-Rhone).

The volunteer will have to respect the internal rules of the establishment. He will also have to supply the administrative documents (CF attached documents : Notebook of reception, charter of the rights and liberties of the welcomed person). Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:
The AAJT propose to the EVS volunteers :
- Learning in the professions ot the social sector and by the housing;
- Service of accompaniment for the young person EVS on his project
- Knowledge of the ground
- Participation to local projects
- He/she will have to make the link between the young residents and the services of the association. Be for the listening of the demand of the young people to propose activities. Make the promotion with the young people of the services of the Association.
- Assistance to the accompaniment of young initiatives
- Organisation of events
- Animation.

3. Hosting project: Nursing home "Bethlehemstift"
City, country: Zittau, Germany
Starting date: September 2009
Duration: 10-12 months

Volunteer tasks:


The residents of the nursing home "Bethlehemstift" are in need of intensive care, i.e. some suffer from dementia. "Bethlehemstift" offers 15 twin rooms and 23 single rooms to its residents. For that purpose there are several possibilites to spend time together in community (recreation rooms, a dining-hall, a chapel, a nice garden with a patio and fountains). We spend a lot of attention on the residents with dementia.

Our staff consists of 36 nurses and 4 workers in the management. Furthermore we are supported by many volunteers and interns. We also train 3 people to become nurses for elderly. Many occupational therapists, physiotherapists and a large number of volunteers care for our residents. It is especially important for us to intensely cooperate with the relatives of the elderly. In the Bethlehemstift needy residents are offered comprehensive individual help and professional holisitc care.

Furthermore, there are regular church services in our house. In our dining-hall we also host large cultural events. We like to celebrate special times of the year(summer, winter , Christmas and spring festivities). In our house also work other young people from Germany for instance in civilian or voluntary services. The positive experiences with them encourage us to host volunteers from other European countries to work together and to learn from each other. The young people are a great enrichment to our residents and staff.

Possible tasks:

- help with daily life of the elderly
- accompanying the elderly people for walks or pushing their wheelchairs to therapists or works
- preparing and leading games
- help with the organisation of festivities and church services
- keeping records of the resident's care

Educational opportunities:

- insight into the structure of a German nursing home
- getting to know therapeutic forms of elderly care (physiotherapy, occupational therapy)
- developing new ideas for spare time activities of the elderly
- creating own projects telling the residents about the volunteer's home country ( customs, dances, songs, poems, cooking, handicrafts)
- learning to work in a team

Selected candidates will be covered the following costs during the project:

- Travel costs: - 100% of actual costs from/to Chisinau to/from host country.
- Visa costs and visa-related costs - 100% of actual costs;
- Volunteers will be covered by health insurance for the duration of the project;
- Board and lodging in the host country during the project;
- Monthly pocket money in the host country:
- 80 Euro/month in Lithuania ;
- 125 Euro/month in France ;
- 105 Euro/month in Germany .
- Local travel costs from the place of accommodation to the host project;
- Crash language course of Lithuanian/French/German language;
- Pre-departure training in Moldova and on arrival orientation and mid term evaluation in the host country;
- Mentoring during the project.

Profile of the Applicants:
- Citizenship of Republic of Moldova ;
- 18-29 years old for the date of the beginning of the projects;
- Applicants must have completed at least secondary school;
- No criminal records, no past deports or any problems with Embassies/Consulates;
- Applicants preferably should have basic knowledge of English or of the speaking language of the selected host country;
- For the projects in Germany the candidates must be open to the fact that the Centre is Christian.
- Applicants must have strong desire and possibility to participate in whole project duration.
- Applicants must be highly motivated to actively volunteer and to contribute to the development of the future projects of ADVIT Moldova upon the return.
